Thanks To Rescuers For Rescuing Abandoned Malnourished Pit Bull From The Road

January 3, 2023

When a dog is abandoned by its owner, especially when they are discovered in such horrific conditions, it is always heartbreaking. Thankfully, there are still those out there who are prepared to step up and offer these people another chance.

That was the situation lately after one pit bull was abandoned because he was so malnourished that he couldn’t even stand. But as of right now, Maggie is officially on the radio.

On July 29, a pit bull named Maggie was surrendered to the Range County Animal Shelter in Virginia. She was severely underweight when a citizen discovered her, weighing only 27 pounds, which is half of what would be considered a healthy weight, according to WIR.

Gina Jenkins, the shelter’s director, told WIR that Maggie was “almost lifeless, couldn’t move, couldn’t get up, and couldn’t walk.”

She claimed the dog was lethargic and dehydrated, suffering from demodectic mange and conjunctivitis.

Despite the severity of the animal maltreatment, Jenkins is skeptical that the owner will be found. Instead, they are concentrating on providing her with the love and attention that she has been denied: “No one is coming forward. She will become your baby.

Maggie is now in good hands and on the road to recovery, even though she knows it won’t be simple: it will probably take her three to four months to properly regrow her hair.

But everyone is still committed to giving this game a much-needed second shot. Her story moved online readers, who donated thousands of dollars for her care and met their fundraising goal in less than 24 hours.

The shelter posted on Facebook, “Although she has a long road ahead, she is improving a little bit every day.” We’ll keep you all informed as she advances, we promise.

Maggie still has a ways to go, but her spirits have been climbing. She has been settling in and making herself comfortable with food and blankets after experiencing so much brutality and neglect.

She is 100% better now. It’s remarkable what love, care, and devotion can accomplish for an animal, Jenkins told WIR. She like nesting in her blankets and enjoys doing so.

Maggie was abandoned in such a heartbreaking way, but we are so happy that she is now in good hands and on the road to recovery!
